Spokane Garry:
A Historical Expedition
Dr. David Beine, Dean of the College of Global Engagement at Great Northern University, is guiding an expedition to historical sites around the Spokane region related to Spokane Garry. The purpose of this expedition is for participants to gain a greater awareness of and appreciation for Spokane Garry's influence in the early history of Spokane.
This expedition, a fully-guided bus tour, will visit Chief Garry Park, the original homestead site of Garry, Drumheller Springs (where Garry held school), Latah Creek and Indian Canyon (where he fled to when he was dispossessed from his land), and Garry’s final resting place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Future tours may explore other relevant sites in the life of Spokane Garry and would also introduce tour participants into the contemporary lives of our Salish tribal neighbors (future tours may be offered if there is sufficient interest; also, if this tour fills and there is more interest, we may do a second date for this same tour. Please email [email protected] if you are interested).
